How We Work
We provide pathways for our participants to develop the economic mobility to move out of poverty. No one service can address the many challenges people living in poverty face — we believe that success comes from participation and achievement in four areas: Assets, Income, Wellness, and Connections.
Locations
Rubicon transforms East Bay communities by equipping people to break the cycle of poverty. Our vision is an East Bay without poverty.
We provide direct services at six Rubicon locations and work in partnership with various service providers throughout Alameda and Contra Costa counties.

Rubicon Values at Work
Our values are more than words; they are the underlying principles that guide our decisions at every level of the organization. We believe that by acting on our values, we will achieve our vision of an East Bay without poverty.
Justice
We believe in the promise of fairness, equality, and opportunity for all people.
Pat Mims Director, Reentry Success Center
Justice is about equity; it sees no color, class, age, gender or infirmity. Justice is having sincere rectitude for others; however, to achieve this one must be brutally honest in applying Justice to themselves.
Hope
Our optimism and hope drive us to constantly seek justice.
DC Carole Dorham-Kelly Chief Executive Officer
Hope is gift! It is to be extended, shared, instilled! I hold an abundance of hope for the communities in which I live and work. When opportunity and mobility feel out of reach, Hope is a connection! Hope is a gift we can give, generously. When you can: see it, share it, shout it! When you are not in a space to give it, I hope you can receive it!
Humility
We are responsive to the ever-evolving needs of the people we serve and the community in which we live.
Jess Temple Staff Attorney
Humility to me is acknowledging the innumerable contributions of those around me that shape me, educate me, and inspire me. It’s honoring the value of each thread—the wholeness of the individual. And it’s celebrating the strength of the fabric—the power of connection and community. Humility is Rubicon weaving the expertise and leadership of the East Bay communities we are invited to serve, the participants we are proud to partner with, and the staff we are fortunate to work beside into a collective tapestry we can all proudly display.
