Rubicon beautifies San Francisco’s Treasure Island
The former Naval
Base in the middle of the San Francisco Bay is getting a lot of
attention lately. The island was profiled in the San Francisco Chronicle
(06/02/05) as a rare opportunity to
build a thriving community based on environmental – or “green” –
principles. And the movie Rent, based on the Broadway hit, is being
filmed in the large sound stages there.
Did you know that Rubicon Landscape Services maintains all of the
landscaping for the 400+ acres? We have a crew of 15 that plants the
flowers, mows the lawns, and trims the trees.

Rubicon participant and artist at the Richmond Art Center
The paintings of
Robert Cruz, the Rubicon participant featured in last month’s e-news,
will be shown at the Richmond Art Center’s exhibit titled “Awakening
the Artist Within.” This exhibition features the artwork of a core group
of artists working with the Expressive Arts Component of the West County Day Treatment Center in Richmond. The show will run June 21
- August 14.

Rubicon Success Story: Introducing Regina Knight
Regina Knight currently works as a counselor in a detox center. She helps people clean up their lives
just as she so courageously cleaned up her own. Regina was addicted to drugs and
tangled in the criminal justice system. She had huge debt, no home, and
no hope.
“God was testing me,” she says.
Rubicon helped her find an apartment and regain her credit. We helped her
create a budget and find a job. Today, Regina is an inspiration to others
and a good mom to her four kids.
She has more than passed her test.
