1. Thank you, donors! Thank you for making the past holiday season one of our best ever!
Over
80 donors contributed more than $41,000. This money will help provide
services to the men and women who walk through our door. We help them
get back on their feet with jobs, housing, skills, and counseling. And
we couldn’t do our work without support like yours.
Thank you!

7. A Rubicon Christmas Story Two
days after Christmas, Rubicon Landscape Services received an urgent
phone call from one of its customers, the CA Department of Health
Services, which has a large office campus in Richmond. In the spirit of
the holidays, DHS offered its employees the opportunity to donate
unwrapped new gifts to needy children. These gifts would then be picked
up and distributed by a charitable organization. The employer set up
decorated barrels in the lobby. The campaign was successful. But for
some reason the charitable organization failed to make its last
scheduled pickup so over 30 gifts remained in the office lobby over the
Christmas weekend. Unfortunately the charitable organization said it no
longer had the means to pick up or distribute the toys.
The Monday after Christmas, we received a call: Could Rubicon find good homes for these gifts?
Rubicon
quickly picked up and distributed the gifts. They were distributed to
participants in our Project Independence Transitional Housing Program
and homeless families seeking services at our Berkeley office. It turns
out that some organizations, such as Toys for Tots, which usually
provide Rubicon with gifts to distribute, fell far short of their goals
this year. This had forced our case managers to carefully ration out
the gifts they did receive. This gracious offer from DHS helped fill in
the gaps and gave many children a happier holiday.

disabilities live independent lives by providing jobs, housing, legal
services, career development services, mental health counseling, and
money management services. We run two social purpose businesses,
Rubicon Bakery and Rubicon Landscape Services, and from which 100% of
net proceeds support our programs.
