Matching grant met thanks to you!
We are proud to
report that the $125,000 was raised to meet the generous matching grant
from the S.H. Cowell Foundation! The purpose of
this match was to establish a working capital reserve for Rubicon to secure
the long term sustainability of our organization. This success is in part
due to a $35,000 anonymous donation – Rubicon’s largest donation from an
individual. The Cowell challenge was a tremendous
opportunity for Rubicon and for it we are very grateful.
Thank you, donors, for making this happen!

Participant Profile: Thomasina Tagaloa
Thomasina Tagaloa is thriving at
Kaiser Permanente. She has a good income, a stable job, and work she loves.
“I am so thankful to Rubicon,” she says.
Before coming to Rubicon, Thomasina and her
family struggled to get by with the meager wages she was able to earn from
seasonal work.
Graduating from a Rubicon job training program has given Thomasina more than a career. It’s given her a new
life.
Rubicon trains hundreds of people like Thomasina
for good careers.

Rubicon’s Enterprises Benefit from MBA Students this Summer
Rubicon Bakery and
Rubicon Landscape Services are benefiting from the skills, fresh
perspectives, and energy of two fantastic Farber Interns. Jess Geevarghese, an MBA-MSW candidate at Washington University in Saint Louis, and Raul Slovik, an MBA candidate at Yale
School of Management, are spending the summer at Rubicon as Farber Interns,
a program of REDF (www.redf.org).
We’ve put them to work on projects that will significantly impact our
enterprises. Jess is working with the Landscape Sales Manager to reach more
customers throughout the Bay Area through targeted marketing. And Raul is
working with the Bakery Production Manager to create a “how-to” manual for
the dozens of handmade cakes, tarts, and other gourmet desserts which will
enable us to improve our operations.
We’re thankful to REDF for the Farber Internship program and to Jess and
Raul for their energy, commitment, and hard work!
